My name is Gerry Creechan. I am a Strategic Marketing and Communications Consultant. I am also a “scribbler” having completed two works so far, one of which is progressing to a screenplay. That work, OneOneNine, (see www.oneonenine.net) is about the life of IRA Volunteer Thomas Whelan, who was executed by the British in March 1921, for a murder that he clearly did not commit. Thomas was, although, a person who had a connection to Michael Collins that will be revealed in the film.
I am an associate of the Screenwriters Guild and come from a long line of strong republican forebears including individuals such as Patrick Crehan, a leader of the Ribbonmen, and grandparents who "did their bit" in the War of Independence, and not just the men. I owe my strong sense of human rights to my maternal grandmother, "battling" Bella McGuinness, who fought tirelessly for the downtrodden and the disadvantaged. I carry out Pro Bono PR work for a number of community organisations in the South East of Dublin's Inner City.
I also act as the Public Relations Officer for the local Cumann of a political party.
